Schofield sterling silver Repousse 5-piece tea / coffee set from 1918 or thereafter in exquisite, repousse pattern consisting of:
a teapot with a raised floral finial atop measuring 5 3/4'' in height by 9 3/4'' from handle to spout
a coffeepot with a raised floral finial atop measuring 9'' in height and from handle to spout
a creamer measuring 5 2/3'' in height by 6 1/4'' from handle to spout
a lidded, two-handled sugar bowl with a raised floral finial atop measuring 5'' in height by 8'' from handle to handle
a waste bowl measuring 3 1/3'' in height by 5 1/4'' in diameter at the largest point
Commissioned by the City of Baltimore in or after 1918, all the pieces bear a dedicatory inscription on the bottom which reads: "Presented to S. S.
Field City Solicitor By the City of Baltimore in recognition of his distinguished services in the passage of the City Extension Act of 1918". Bearing hallmarks as shown. Total weight is 82.3 ozt.
The Schofield Company (1903–1977) also known as the Baltimore Silversmiths Manufacturing Company was a Baltimore area silver company, whose best known pattern was Baltimore Rose. Frank M. Schofield was born in 1873 and was the great-great-grandson of John Schofield, an English Silversmith in London 1740–1772.
In 1891, at the age of 18, Frank Schofield started an apprenticeship at The Gorham Mfg. Co. in Providence. Schofield had a thriving silver business, buying the Baltimore-based silver brand Jenkins & Jenkins in 1915.
