A monumental, 1816 British Britannia standard (.958 pure)
four piece tea service.
From one of the most innovative silversmiths of the day
Edward Farrell.
Selected from our 45 year collection of antique silver.
Despite the importance of his work, little is known of Farrell.
First listed 1813.
Grimade notes that he created some of the most "unusual productions"
of the Regency period (page 508).
Best known for his richly decorated tea services with Dutch peasant scenes
in the Teniers manner.
The fact that this tea set is not Teniers decorated, makes it
even more important.
His work is found in the Metropolitan, New York,
Boston Museum Fine Arts
and
The Victoria & Albert, London
to name a few.
In 2017 Christies, London sold a five piece Farrell set
for 20,000. GBP plus premium or about ,000. USD
Pushkins, London offers a small Farrell mustard pot for almost 00. USD
This important British Britannia standard Regency coffee pot
is 10 1/2 inches across handles and 9 inches tall and
weighs a touch over 53 standard ounces.
The complete four piece service

Period engraved family crest under bases, rooster.
Hallmarked as shown.
The hallmarks match, but for 1816 & 1817 dates.
In fine condition.
Retains near original detail.
