This is a rare souvenir program from the Original Broadway production of the Pulitzer Prize winning WILLIAM INGE play "BUS STOP" which played the Music Box Theatre in New York City. (The production opened March 2nd, 1955 and ran for 478 performances.) ..... The play starred KIM STANLEY as "Cherie" (the role played by MARILYN MONROE in the motion picture released the following year) and featured ELAINE STRITCH, ANTHONY ROSS, ALBERT SALMI, DICK YORK, PHYLLIS LOVE, PATRICK McVEY, LOU POLAN and CRAHAN DENTON ..... CREDITS: Book by WILLIAM INGE (the Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright commited suicide in 1973); Sets designed by BORIS ARONSON; Costumes designed by PAUL MORRISON; Directed by HAROLD CLURMAN; Produced by ROBERT WHITEHEAD and ROGER L. STEVENS ..... DETAILS: The oversized 20 page program measures 9" X 12" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, promotional text, photos and bios of each of the actors and members of the creative team, excerpts from several reviews and a number of pages of production photos. Includes a loose insert (shown in the last scanned image) noting that DICK YORK had replaced ALBERT SALMI, who appears in all of the production photos ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
